A new stage of development has launched at the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema. A modern color correction laboratory has been established at the university, where students master the DaVinci software acquired with the support of the “Stepan Gishyan” Charitable Foundation. Via the software, students now have the opportunity to manage the light of the frame, the correct play of shadow, the harmony of colors, depth and more. The Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema is one of the beneficiaries of the 2025 grant competition of the “Stepan Gishyan” Charitable Foundation, with the support of which the color correction room was established. “The main goal of the project is to provide particularly final-year students with the opportunity to create quality films and participate in international festivals.
Students will work with the DaVinci software, which is a state-of-the-art and powerful tool for frame processing. The software includes not only color correction, but also sound and visual effects toolkits," noted Anna Gishyan, Director of the “Stepan Gishyan” Charitable Foundation. “Thanks to the “Stepan Gishyan” Foundation, we are becoming unique. Until today, color correction, strange as it may sound, has not been taught in Armenia. We changed our educational programs, and now students can fully apply the new software in the post-production stage,” noted Sara Nalbandyan, Rector of the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema.
The “Stepan Gishyan” Charitable Foundation was established by Acba Bank, French Crédit Agricole, the National Federation of Crédit Agricole, and the Stepan Gishyan family. The projects of the foundation are aimed at strengthening Armenian-French ties, improving and perfecting the socio-economic, scientific-educational, cultural, and healthcare systems of Armenia.
